A Hedgehog A Day Keeps The Sadness Away • I’ve only had my hedgehog for a couple weeks but I’ve never had a problem handling her. But today every time I went to pet her she got jumpy and balled up making a weird noise. I let her sniff my fingers an she’s fine then I go to pet her (never has been an issue) and every time she gets jumpy and balls up. Do you have any idea what’s going on?

Has anything changed (your sleeping schedule, work schedule, her bedding, etc) sometimes things like that can upset a hedgie. But she may just be starting to kind of “realize” she’s in a new place and she might know she’s going to be staying there now. Some hedgies are moved around so much from place to place, that when they finally settle it takes a while to realize it’s not temporary. Just keep handling her and playing with her so she’ll get use to you :)
